One hour. One fish. One hundred percent worth it.
Baby Sidney Tiblier and I had a small window yesterday to run the Skeeter and try out the LTD 3” Paddle Tail by NLBN. After a short ride from Foggy Waters Marina to the shoreline between Bayou Bonfouca and Bayou Lacombe, we started scanning the shallows. It was not ideal conditions for sight fishing, but from the height of our Frog Daddy casting platform it was more than manageable.
About 15 minutes in, a dark silhouette appeared on Sid’s side, starboard, fairly close, with time for maybe one cast before it was too late. Sid took the shot and it was perfect. Without hesitation, the fish pounced and the fight was on.

The old drum put up a hell of a fight, as they usually do, forcefully testing Sid and his gear. I found myself coaching as if he was still 12 years old, but it was obviously unnecessary. He was in full control and after about 10 minutes the massive drum lay peacefully on the deck.
Anyone on the water within five miles could hear the celebration. You would think we had just won a boat or broken a long standing record. But nah, just a father and son in the moment. It was also perfect.

We took a few photos and released the old girl to fight another day.
Mission accomplished, we made our way home, but with a new memory I will not soon forget. Making the most of one hour may be an overlooked notion. Lesson learned.

NLBN. I am not saying that fish would not have reacted the same way to any of the other million soft plastics on the market. But there is a reason NLBN, No Live Bait Needed, has become so popular lately. It looks great, swims great, strong hooks, and is very durable. Come check out NLBN at Marsh & Bayou Outfitters, we look forward to hear other anglers experiences with the product.
